My Story

I was born in Silay City, Negros Occidental, Philippines. I spent my high school and college years in the same school, Colegio de San Agustin, Bacolod City. I graduated with a degree in nursing and went on to finish my Master's Degree in Nursing at Grand Canyon University. I finished a rigorous doctoral degree in education with a major in organizational leadership and health care administration. My experience spans across all levels in critical care with emphasis in cardiovascular and progressively move to a bigger and broader responsibilities in the last 30 plus years. At present, I am the Vice President of Patient Care Services, Critical Care, Respiratory Department, different programs and service lines at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

What do you love about the profession of nursing?

The opportunity to forge lasting relationships with others, at the core of it are the patients and their families.

Who has impacted you and why (professional or personal or both)?

My parents, my husband and children! They all inspire me to be better every day.

What makes you get up and do something every day?

The thought that life is finite and you have to take advantage of your existence in this world. Then take every opportunity to make a difference in someone's life, being a part of redefining anything and continuing to forge partnerships in everything that I do. It is just a privilege to simply be alive and healthy.

Why do you belong to an association like the PNA NH?

The opportunity to give back, to make a change, a "mark."

What do you do for fun?

I love stand up paddle board and more importantly spending time with my husband. I love to read, read, and read.

Where and what do you want to be in 3 years?

Bigger, broader impact on others, wherever that maybe.

Anything that you want to share about yourself, family, pets, etc., that may surprise others?

We have the most adorable grandson!

What does being bold and unstoppable mean to you?

Giving everything, anything you've got. Being unafraid to challenge the status quo with kindness. Creating an indelible mark and defy obstacles.
